The Arkansas State Teachers Association is offering to pay for registration costs for ASTA members to attend the Arkansas Curriculum Conference (November 4-5) and the Arkansas Reading Association Conference (November 18-19). The ASTA Professional Development Scholarship Program is part of ASTA’s commitment of supporting our members in their professional learning.

 

The application only takes a few minutes to fill out. Members have already started signing up for these events but spaces are still available. The scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis so sign up today online to reserve your free admission.



Arkansas Curriculum Conference
(November 4 and 5, 2010)

Location: Little Rock, Peabody Hotel and Statehouse Convention Center

Description: Those attending the conference will gain practical ideas to use in the classroom for all four major education disciplines and access discipline-specific vendor displays. Professional luncheons will also feature nationally known authors and speakers such as Michael Yell, past president of NCSS; Patricia McCormick, nationally known author; Randy Charles featuring a math leaders short course; and Steve Rich, author of “Outdoor Science, a Practical Guide.”



Arkansas Reading Association Conference
(November 18 and 19, 2010)

Location: Little Rock, Peabody Hotel and Statehouse Convention Center

Description: This year’s theme is “Reading on the River.”  Harvey “Smokey” Daniels and Candy Dawson Boyd will be keynote speakers.  Patricia Reilly Giff, an award-winning children’s author, will be the “Book and Author” speaker.
