When these point in a positive direction, children gain momentum and positive accomplishment; when they don’t, we see downward spirals and increasing distance from college, career, community, and life success.

If there is one thing that can make or break a school year, it’s how well a teacher manages to communicate with parents. A healthy, open line of communication can make parents your greatest ally and provide them with the tools they need to help their children succeed. When parents are asked what they want from their child’s teacher, inevitably better communication is one of the top responses – even when students are in high school!

 
An Open Letter to Arkansas Education Professionals: Teacher Freedom Now Rings Across Our Nation

The recent US Supreme Court ruling in Janus v. AFSCME in favor of Mark Janus impacts education professionals across the nation. As the executive director of the non-union Arkansas State Teachers Association (ASTA), I am reaching out to you to start a discussion about what this means for public school educators. Before the ruling, millions of public school employees were required, yes required, to pay dues to a teacher union as a condition for employment.
