Remembering the Armistice

Schools across the country will be closed on Monday November 12 or hold special ceremonies to recognize Veterans Day. While Veterans Day is an annual solemn day of remembrance, this year it holds special significance. November 11, 2018 marks not only the national holiday, but also the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, the bloody war “to end all wars” that led to the holiday’s creation in its original name, Armistice Day.
