New Poll: Americans Want to Fire Bad Teachers, Pay Them More

According to a new poll released today by the Associated Press and Stanford University, an overwhelming majority believe that it is necessary to fire bad teachers, but in contrast believe that teachers are paid too little.
 
Arkansas Teachers to Receive Christmas Bonus

Teachers in about half of Arkansas’ 239 school districts will receive a bonus this holiday season due to a $90 million federal grant.

Christian Bible Curriculum Considered for Arkansas Schools

A proposed education bill will go in front of the Arkansas legislative in January over creating a Bible based curriculum for Arkansas schools. House bill 1032 would not mandate that curriculum be taught, but developed for possible use in schools. Similar legislation is being considered in states like Oklahoma. Senator Denny Altes of Fort Smith is pre-filing the bill requiring the Arkansas Department of Education to create this controversial curriculum.
